Caligula - Technical Aggression Demo Tape 1987
Caligula
Another fairly obscure metal demo from back in the day. Caligula hailed from Howard Beach NY and played a fairly technical style of thrash metal that sometimes brings bands like DBC to mind though there isn't a clear similarity. I remember this tape being a pretty big deal, in the NY underground at least. This is the 3rd metal demo post this week and I plan to keep them coming so if you like this sort of thing then keep checking back. Since no one comments I have no idea if you people like this old obscure metal stuff, but I also don't really care. If you don't like it then go away...Dave G.

nothing wrong with hearing bands that never "made it". gives insight into regional sounds. nowadays there seems to be very little left of regional sounds being tied to an actual region.
I agree Ben. Bands just record there music and put it on the net now. The days of building a local fan base have sort of been left behind.
wow I totally forgot about this demo. I used to like this! It was great for it's time.
yeah...this is a damn good old school demo...great stuff haha!
Hey SBG your a DBC fan, do you hear a little DBC in this tape ? I hear it especially in track 2 Crippled Youth.
I was totally going to say...sounds a little bit like DBC which definetly isn't a bad thing, that's too funny!
isn't the cover similar to autograph's album cover? same robot arm?
Yeah the cover is similar to the Autograph cover hahaha
This is pretty good,. Never heard it before. Unfortunately the vocalist can't really keep up with the musicians, who are all top notch. This is a really good example of a technically complex band that has crazy chops, but doesn't get bogged down in mindlessly showing off.
