Vio-lence - Oppressing The Masses Promo Cassette 1990

Was going through the old tape box again today and pulled this bad boy out. I forgot I had it and also forgot that this promo cassette is the only version of Oppressing The Masses that has the song Torture Tactics on it as the original run of 20,000 CD's was pulled and destroyed back in the day and re-released minus this song.

I couldn't find any visual proof of this tapes existance on the web so I figured I would scan it and share it with everyone...Dave G.

Kickass magazine Bob Muldowney

God I loved this zine as a kid. I really felt a connection with bob's reviews and found that I could trust his taste in metal unconditionally. If Bob said something Kicked Ass then it really did. Anyway, I only have 3 issues of this  zine in my collection because after I finished devouring all the information that was packed in each issue of this great zine I would go at them with a pair of scissors and tack all the pictures to my bedroom wall. Anyway, I would love to purchase some old issues of Kickass. So if anyone out there has some old Kickass zines collecting dust and you'd like some cash please leave a comment or drop me an email...Dave G.

The only issues I have currently:

July 85 volume XXX (Kerry King on cover)
November 85 volume XXXI (Cronos on cover)
VOLUME XXXII (Lemmy on cover)

Ironcross - Bloodhounds - TKT/Master records 1982

I picked this little gem up at a recent record show based solely on the cover art having never heard of Iron Cross previously.  I have a habit and maybe it's a bad habit of buying pretty much any old metal record I come across whether I am familiar with the band or not, and I tend to buy a lot of stinkers in the process. Luckily, Iron Cross is not a stinker, but a pretty damn good nwobhm metal record with a cool Judas Priest or even Rainbow vibe at times.

I did a little internet research and discovered that Iron Cross formed in Finland in 1976. I also found a bio and some you tube tracks, see below for a song and a link to the bio...Dave G.

Warrior - Dead When It Comes To Love 7" ep Neat Records 1982

Here's a cool NWOBHM 7" that doesn't seem to get too much appreciation from the collectors of this sort of thing. The 3 songs on this platter may not be top notch NWOBHM , but the second song "Stab You In The Back" is a very good song, and the remaining 2 songs are certainly enjoyable. Overall I would recommend this record to any fan of this genre, unfortunately I cannot find a you tube clip for my favorite song, but below is a link to the song "Dead When It Comes To Love:....Dave G

Old School metal photos

Found a box of my old metal stuff at my parents house the other day. Nothing like finding a box full of old pictures you had completely forgotten about and then having the memories come flooding back upon seeing the images again. These are just a few of the 100's of metal photos that covered every inch of my bedroom wall when I was a kid...Dave G.

I have some vinyl for sale on Discogs. Here's a link if anyone is interested.

Le Cause - Clear Plastic Day - Emotional Records 1983

Obscure minimal synth wave band from Pennsylvania. Apparently the sleeve above is a rare alternate sleeve that looks nothing like the one you commonly see with this record. I prefer the above sleeve to the more widely used one as it fits the music better. Posting for historical purposes...Dave G.

Mad Butchers - Tales From The Menstruating Twat - demo tape 1986

Offensive tape cover, stupid song titles and NYHC tags tell you all you need to know about this tape, and also tells you exactly what the music sounds like, but if you can't figure it out I'll just say that someone really liked SOD and or Lethal Aggression and decided hey we can do that...they even have a song that clocks in at about 2 seconds. Unfortunately, they don't have the chops, vocals or production value to really pull this off.

I bet they thought this was great and funny when they released it, but as a full grown man this is a little embarrassing...Posting just to document the tapes existence as I do not see it anywhere on the internet... Dave G

Mad Butchers hailed from Staten Island NY

Viking - Do or Die demo tape 1986

Hellbound
Prelude Scavenger
Do or Die

Viking

Viking followed this demo up with 2 full length Lp's "Do or Die" 1988 and "Man of Straw" 1989.

This is an excellent thrash metal demo that is a bit more raw and less polished than what you would expect from an 80's California thrash/death metal band, but it is that grit that makes this tape so great...it's unfortunate that the bands Lp's are currently out of print. Hopefully, someone will get around to re-releasing them in the near future..Dave G.

Abortion Squad 1983 demo 12" Who Cares? Records

Great raw and nasty full speed ahead early 80's hardcore...I recommend you pick up a copy of this Lp before they are gone as Who Care's? releases tend to disappear very quickly and are very hard to come by...Dave G.

Bio from the label:

Formed in 1982, the ABORTION SQUAD was assembled from the remnants of two high school punk bands, The BY-PRODUX, and The FIZZICAL FITS.
Listen to “Stupid jerk”

Inspired by the early 80's international hardcore scene, they combined and wrote new songs and kicked up their punk sound a notch to HARDCORE.

In 1983 they hit the recording studio and put out a now "rare" cassette demo tape featuring many killer "hits" such as "You Make Me Sick" and "No Authority, No Rules" which earned them airplay on local Boston area college stations... not bad for a bunch of punk kids from Manchester NH !!

They enjoyed a good run of success in the 80's playing shows in Boston with other area hardcore bands, they enjoyed having had the pleasure of being on the bill with such notable acts as G.G. ALLIN and the JABBERS, G.B.H., and even Boston pop icons the NEIGHBORHOODS.

The ABORTION SQUAD were part of the few hardcore punk from the New Hampshire scene, among bands like the MURDERERS, the MIGHTY CO'S and AGROPHOBIC ARRAY... they are incontestably the most primitive and brutal band from this scene, playing intense and spontaneous hardcore with a real "fuck you" punk attitude.

28 years later, WHO CARES? records officially releases the 21 song demo on a 12" vinyl.
Limited as usual to 300 hand numbered copies : 50 first on limited edition and colored vinyl, 250 next on regular cover. 8 test pressings should be made. Test pressings will be made as usual with a special cover...Listen to Abortion Squad and purchase the Lp.

Failure Face - Discograghy pre-order up

Give Praise Records Pre-order

From Florida, Failure Face existed from '93 - '96. They played in-your-face and down-your-throat hardcore. Fueled by the sounds of punk rock inspired hardcore that moves along as a guide to original hardcore music. Fast, combined with catchy elements and negative lyrics to get you angry about the state of the world around you - this is a statement of early 90's hardcore. With sound elements of INFEST, Failure Face proudly makes it's claim on the hardcore map.

B Team - Buy American (Faulty Products) 1983

B Team - Buy American

B Team really deserve much more recognition than they have ever received. I have never heard anyone drop B Teams name in discussions regarding dark wave or post punk bands like Gang of Four, Joy Division,Crispy Ambulance , Ski Patrol, 1919 etc, but I am changing that right now.

This Lp is bursting at the seems with rolling darkwave like bass lines excellent Gang of Four inspired guitar work and the moody 80's vocal delivery that you would come to expect from a good postpunk/darkwave band, however at the same time I also hear the UK Subhumans in these songs as well...great stuff that is absolutely essential to your post punk record collection...Dave G.

At All Cost - NYHC 1987-1991

Bio + demo downloads etc

You've probably seen me post about At All Cost in the past, as I have been championing them and trying to spread the word about this band for a few years now on various blogs and on Facebook etc.

Well, it appears my hard work is paying off (yes I am taking credit...I have a huge ego you know) as a reunion show is in the works for 2012 and the band is also looking for a label to release there demo tapes on cd or vinyl...any interested labels please contact myself or the band, and in the meantime like At All Cost-NYHC on Facebook, download their music and Let's Bust Shit Up At All Cost Style!!!

The Mentally Ill - Gacy's Place 7" - 1979 -Last Laugh Records

Insanely good fuzzed out punk rock from Deerfield Illinois circa 1979. Thank you to Last Laugh Records for repressing this incredible single to make it more widely available to the masses.... Buy Buy Buy....Dave G.

P.S. The song files above from You Tube are a bit blown out sounding...the actual record sounds 100x better than these sound files.
