Modern English - Swans On Glass / Incident 7" 4 AD 1980

Here is another top notch Modern English single on 4 AD. I am really into this early ME material, but since most of you seem to be allergic to commenting on my posts, I have no idea if I am digging this shit all on my own. Maybe it's time to cut back on the posts or take the blog in a different direction.

I'm loving this!

Quite Gang of Four-ish... which is always good.

I have 2 other older ME singles posted. You should grab them as well if you do not have them already. Also check out a band called Ski Patrol, they are not as well know but are excellent as well.

SBG do a like internet snooping to see if you can find ME Lp "Mesh and Lace:..you won't be disappointed. I don't have the time or energy to post it at the moment.

I check your blog frequently and I must say I fall into that category of being alergic to leaving comments. I love the variety and rarity of what you have posted here, and just need to voice that once in a while. I'm kind of digging on this ME stuff despite the fact a little later when they really got popular I had a fear, but a secret sweet spot for new wave. Nice post as always Dave.

Thanks for speaking up Justin. I hate to bitch about comments, and I know people appreciate what I do here. I guess when I started this blog I thought people would speak up and be more interactive, and we could have some nice back and forth dialogue etc . I never intended for the blog to be a place for me to just say hey look at this cool rare record that I have that you don't have, but sometimes it feels that way to me and that was never my intention...Dave G.

yeah hopefully people comment more. It would be cool to actually have discussions about a particular band people like or whatever. I think it's the initial feeling of being timid to post something. I was that way too for a while but I started thinking the same thing that if you're taking the time to post all this great stuff and I'm downloading it frequently I should at least speak up and let you know we're out here once in a while.

Exactly SBG...I am guilty of not always commenting on others blogs, but if I respect a blog and visit it frequently then I like to comment and feel like I am a part of that blog.So at the end of the day here, I ask myself do people share this same feeling as me and if so then is my blog not inspiring people to feel the need to participate ? I don't know, at the end of the day my love for sharing music will probably win out and this whole discussion will just be lost 20 posts back under a Modern English single...time will tell I guess.

Dave.......early Modern English is brilliant, and it is a shame that they are basically only known for "Melt With You" I worship the "After The Snow" lp, and took much shit from my punk rock friends back in the eighties for extolling it's virtues. "Someone's Calling" and "Carry Me Down" are quite possibly the best so called "new wave" songs ever written....and in all actuality show a musical acumen that draws from The Beatles and to a lesser degree Fairport Convention, but most certainly rivals the more technical bands like "XTC" and "Sad Lovers and Giants". Great Post!

I agree with you %100 Chris. Ah Sad Lovers and Giants, now there is another brilliant obscure band.
