Enerjetics - Don't Stop The....Demo 1983
Two posts in one day you ask ? When you have something this good...why wait ?
The Energetics are a complete mystery band from NJ. I got these files some time ago and I didn't want to post them because I couldn't find any information about this band, and sometimes when I have something really rare I like to keep it to myself. Well, after holding onto these recordings for a while the need to find out more about this band finally caused me to send the tracks over to my friend Erich at Good Bad Music For Bad, Bad Times to see if he could shed any light on these excellent recordings. After about a week Erich got back to me asking me for more information about the band hahaha. Well, to make a long story short Erich convinced me to share these songs with the masses "in then name of the arts", and also to see if we can't find out some more information about this excellent mystery band...Dave G. oh one other thing I almost forgot. The music is mostly uptempo catchy straight up old school punk rock the way you want to hear it done.

I've had this demo in the vaults for a while too. this is pre Mental Abuse that includes Dave Jones. here's the track titles and correct spelling of the band name: Enerjetics "Don't Stop The..." Demo: 01 intro / 02 we hate fritz / 03 don't be afraid / 04 mass confusion / 05 showplace / 06 slam / 07 school / 08 machine food / 09 assembler / 10 pam / 11 enerjetics / 12 gino's brawl
Thanks TAQN, you solved that mystery real quick. I corrected the band name in the Post Header.
Still not much out there under Enerjetics except I see Pat Duncan has played them on his WFMU radio show. Glad I upped this because it definitely deserves some recognition.
I can't believe that's all people have to say about this!
There's an EP called "Killer Dobermans" from '80 or '81. Dave Jones on vocals and drums (and maybe all other instruments too) on the recordings, but they did play live so there's other people in the band too.
judging by the intro, it was a two man band... wonder who the other guy was? Its fucking great, though. Hopefully Dave might surface with a story or 17 to share.
i'm surprised by the outpouring on this one.. it totally has late 90s production stamped all over it. it sounds like a slow Ed Gein Fan Club-- who were honest about their late recordings, at least.

Ian, I agree with your comment about the production values on this release, also the intro talks about the Enerjectics in past tense. One of the reasons I held this back originally was I had my doubts that it was an old recording. Does anyone know anything about when these soongs were recorded ?
that's why I thought it's so outstanding for a 1983 recording: how could it have stayed under the radar for so long with this production standard. curious to hear more .......
YEP GREAT SOUND! nevertheless it seems to be a fake recording... who cares... i've made a (fake) front cover for it... look at it:

what does that mean? a fake recording...it's not the enerjetics?
These songs are fake remakes I did in 2002. I'm Dean Jones, I was the other half of Enerjetics with my cousin Dave on drums. I remade the songs, alone, just to hear them again because I didn't have any old copies of them and figured I'd document them before I forgot them completely. Performance-wise, the recordings are significantly inferior to how we actually sounded. I'm not a singer; Dave sang them much better. I sort of patched together a drum track using some drum loops (SmartLoops Dry Studio Drummer, I'm pretty sure), so the drum tracks are far below Dave's ability. He remains one of my favorite hardcore drummers (just listen to AF's Victim in Pain again). History: Enerjetics started in late 1979 and went until about 1981. We played at the Dover Showplace like twice a week, played CBGBs once, but our big claim to fame was opening 6 or so Plasmatics shows in the summer of 1980 (crap... 30 years ago!). We did record an 5 song EP at Omni recording studios in Morristown NJ on 5/8/1980, and I think Dave may still have the master tape. He was NOT happy I rerecorded these songs. He wrote all the lyrics and I wrote the music except for track 3, 9, and 10 where Dave wrote both music & words. If you ask me, they're just pretty crappy covers of Enerjetics songs. I just wanted to hear them again, and let some family hear what I was talking about back then. Also, I think that the band that came after Enerjetics, The OutGroup (again, with Dave on drums) was like a 'better' Enerjetics. Check out this recent blog to see what I mean... http://bloggedquartered.blogspot.com/2010/07/tribute-to-sid-sludge.html
Thanks for straightening this all out Dean. I still think this recording is excellent. I would love to hear the superior original versions some day, and I will definitely keep my eye out for the 5 song ep, assuming it was officially released back in the day. .
Dave, thanks for the kind words. The 7" was never released, and AFAIK, only two acetates were made, and one of those went to The Plasmatics. If I find any recordings, I'll let you know. I have a couple of old-school style songs here http://www.myspace.com/deanjonesmusic and I'll occasionally post a new one every so often. DJ
